Job Position – IT Support Specialist– Field (Retail)

Reports to: IT Manager

Hey, we’re on the hunt for a hands-on IT Administrator—someone who’s not allergic to actually showing up at stores and rolling up their sleeves. Need you to jump in ASAP, mostly because our client’s retail spots and HQ aren’t going to fix themselves. Expect to bounce between locations, wrangle POS systems, keep networks alive, babysit endpoints, sort out meeting rooms, tinker in the backend… you know, basically juggle all the tech stuff that keeps the lights on.

Key Responsibilities
Retail & Field:

Oh man, you name it—I’ve probably had to fix it. POS systems acting shady? Payment terminals giving attitude? Barcode printers jamming up right when you need ‘em most? That’s a Tuesday. And yeah, doesn’t matter if I’m physically in the store or running tech support like a wizard from who-knows-where, it all lands in my lap.

Meraki goes down or some mystery black hole gobbles up the wifi? Guess who’s suddenly everyone’s best friend. And, ugh, when someone’s melting down over Teams or Zoom in the middle of a meeting, I’m the one crawling under tables wrestling cables, making AV systems cooperate—usually with half the company watching (no pressure, right?).

Oh, and store openings? Pure chaos—moving gear around, rewiring everything, rolling out shiny new gadgets, sometimes just holding things together with hope and, if I’m lucky, a working patch cable. It’s wild, but honestly, if something techy could mess up, it probably already has, and yep, I’m the one they call.

Core IT / Infrastructure:
Here’s the deal: You’ll be setting up and babysitting desktops, laptops, the whole zoo—printers, random peripherals, even that one mobile device nobody actually uses (but hey, it’s your job if it breaks). You’ll also juggle stuff like Active Directory, Windows, Microsoft 365, and probably poke around in VMware just enough to stop it from lighting on fire. Oh, and you’re on the hook for watching the network—if something starts blinking red or screaming for help, you jump in and fix it before anyone notices (or, you know, before your boss starts breathing down your neck).

Security, Patching & Backup:

Handle endpoint protection, patching, and encryption (yeah, BitLocker—everyone’s favorite). Chase down vulnerabilities and actually fix them, not just talk about it.

Make sure backups actually exist and won’t explode during a real disaster. Disaster recovery? Gotta be ready, no excuses.

Keep IT security policies tight, protect data like it’s the last slice of pizza, and control who’s allowed through the digital gates.

Operations & Processes:
– Handle ticket lifecycle in ITSM tools (ServiceNow preferred).
– Maintain IT asset inventory, licenses, and vendor coordination.
– Document SOPs, runbooks, changes, and provide basic user training.

Skills & Experience:

So, three to five years messing with IT support—bonus points if you’ve wrestled with the chaos of retail or bounced between locations. You gotta know your Windows inside-out, be tight with Active Directory, and honestly, if you’re lost in Microsoft 365, just… no.

You’ll need to get your hands dirty with POS systems, random hardware, networking headaches, the whole shebang. If you’ve poked around in the Meraki dashboard? Big plus. Oh, and don’t forget: if acronyms like ITSM, VMware, or firewall/router troubleshooting don’t make you run for the hills, you’re on the right track.

Patching, backups, locking down endpoints, and basic disaster recovery? Just part of the daily grind.

Certifications advantageous: CompTIA A+/N+, MD-100/101, ITIL Foundation, Meraki CMNA.
