Responsibilities

  • Insuring that all Special Projects are given proper logistical and coverage planning support. Organizing planning sessions for each project and oversees the logistical efforts made or contemplated for those events.
  • Keeping track of on-air talent assignments, and insuring that crews, facilities, lines, and guest information relating to the event are properly disseminated.
  • Assisting the Chief Global Assignment and Planning Editor in managing and coordinating logistics to insure that the Special Project is executed professionally and efficiently
  • Gathering and maintaining contact information needed for specific events, and maintaining a list of possible alternate vendors or personnel. As MBN’s chief point of contact in the planning stages of the event, the Assignment Planner must be well-informed in all developments, pending events, and logistical arrangements made or contemplated by the company.
  • Maintaining communication with press offices and media relations officials connected with each special project, and insures that credentials, travel, and technical arrangements have been addressed.
  • Maintaining financial records, including rate cards, expenditures, and proposed expenditures relating to the special project.
  • Insuring that appropriate personnel are assigned to the special projects coverage as needed.
  • Reporting all developments and concerns to the Global Chief Assignment & Planning Editor as well as to the head of the relevant department.
  • Adhereing to MBN journalist code of ethics.
  • In some cases, Assignment Planners might be requested to travel on assignments to assist with special coverage or programming.

Candidates are required to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism (or related field).
  • 2 years of event planning experience.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and written in English and classic Arabic.
  • Demonstrated an ability to prioritize and make decisions consistent with the mission of the organization.
  • Keen sense of logistics and ability to work well with others including producers, reporters, photographers, other personnel and the public
  • Good creative and editorial judgment. Mastery of journalistic ethics and libel laws.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and under stress with accuracy and balance.
  • Demonstrated strong people management skills.
  • Strong attention to details.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
