Job Accountabilities

As Claims Assessor, your role will involve:

• Handle complex personal or commercial line claims, accurately capturing and updating claims information in compliance with best practices.
• Determine liability by gathering relevant facts; utilizing applicable law; establishing basic principles of negligence.
• Confirm policy existence by identifying coverage on low complexity claims.
• Work to have a timely resolution to claims by developing case strategy; developing a case evaluation; escalating issues as appropriate.
• Establish timely reserves within authority limit by estimating value of claims.
• Assess damages by calculating applicable damages or range of damages allowed by law.
• Negotiate settlement of claim by establishing appropriate negotiation strategy and utilizing available tools and resources within authority limits.
• In case of Life Claims: develop a knowledge of company operations, contract forms, policy administration, life and disability claims principles, regulatory requirements, medical terminology and investigative techniques ensuring the timely and equitable settlement of claims and delivery of excellent customer service.

Job Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) with at least 2 years of insurance experience
• Proficient in Claim Investigation, Coverage Evaluation, Fraud Management and Litigation Management
• Strong knowledge of the organization and its products.
• Effective Communications, Negotiation and Settlement skills.
• Exposure to Insurance Legal and Regulatory Environment.
• Demonstrate commitment to corporate values and service excellence.
