Responsibilities

• Operating as a Lead Architect to support the pre-sales, design, delivery and operation of VMware technology offerings.
• Providing expert VMware technical leadership, guidance and solution governance for all VMware activities
• Architect VMware solutions in hybrid cloud environments
• Implementing VMware solutions and proof of concept environments
• Participating in client workshops and working as part of joint Rackspace / customer teams
• Documenting solutions and identifying risks for management
• Providing expert VMware technical consultancy and advice to customers and project teams
• Interpreting internal/external business challenges and recommending best practices to improve products, processes or services

Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of designing, building, implementing, analyzing, and troubleshooting distributed, highly available systems
• Mastery Knowledge of the VMware Platform. Including but not limited to: advanced knowledge of the vSphere platform, strong networking and NSX administration skills, strong working knowledge of fibre channel SANS, NFS and vSAN, strong knowledge of vROPS/vRLI, strong working knowledge of HP/DELL Server hardware platforms, strong knowledge/troubleshooting of Disaster Recovery technologies (e.g. ZERTO, SRM)
• Strong knowledge of Project Management methodologies
• Strong understanding of services and protocols, configuration, management, and troubleshooting of hosting environments, including web servers, databases, caching, and database services
• Scripting knowledge/experience is a plus(PowerCLI, REST).
• Strong knowledge of vCloud Director and vCloud Foundation.
• Advanced knowledge in the application of current and emerging network software and hardware technology and protocols
