Key responsibilities:

  • Support GB Compliance in mitigating regulatory and reputational risk by ensuring appropriate Compliance risk stewardship and expertise
  • Proactively assist management in identifying and managing compliance risk, specifically in relation to Financial Crime
  • Assist with the roll out of best practice within the HSBC offices in the MENAT region, and support the offices as required
  • Enable sustainable growth through compliant strategies ensuring initiatives meet regulatory expectations and risk appetite
  • Drive implementation and deployment of Financial Crime Compliance policies, local regulations and transformation programs with business and compliance teams across MENAT region
  • Facilitate the GB Compliance team to provide clear, concise, consistent, constructive and customer conscious advice and strategic guidance to GB on Financial Crime Compliance matters
  • Meet local/regional/group-led/regulatory reporting and ad-hoc projects as required
  • Providing the Global Banking Compliance Lead with effective support in the deployment of the Financial Crime Compliance Assurance function in the Region, and delivering oversight of key assurance reviews impacting Global Banking
  • Ensure a proactive approach is taken to the identification of Financial Crime risk change and the potential impacts on the Global Banking business model within MENAT
  • Work collaboratively within the business and Compliance to ensure the provision of a highly professional, competent and skilled Compliance service
  • Compliance decisions tend to be subjective but require strong rationale and analysis as in most cases there may not be a specifically prescribed internal rule or external regulation which can be referenced to
  • Internal HSBC Financial Crime policy changes arising from the implementation of the wider Compliance blue-print, and the implementation and impacts of the respective policies on the GB business
  • Risk steward for Financial Crime-related risks, as well as Regulatory Compliance where required
  • To implement the requirements of the Global AML Policy, Wholesale Global Line of Business Procedures, and other supporting policies, where appropriate
  • Be aware of the Financial Crime risks that the Global Banking business is exposed to
  • Maintain HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
  • Be aware of the Operational Risk scenario associated with your role and act in a manner that takes account of operational risk considerations.
  • To be alert to operational risks and losses during the execution of day to day responsibilities. Should you become aware of emerging or inadequately controlled operational risk or identify an operational risk loss, you must report this to your line manager, ensuring that it is reported to your local Operational Risk coordinator

Experience & Qualifications

  • Graduate Degree is a must to obtain UAE visa.
  • Experience of Financial Crime Compliance preferred, with sound relevant Global Banking product knowledge
  • Business, Compliance or Audit experience preferred
  • Proven analytical skills, together with the ability to support decisions with sound reasoning.
  • Proven ability to clearly articulate business and regulatory implications of analysis and findings.
  • An understanding of the potential impact of foreign regulatory developments impacting Global Banking and Markets activity
  • Proven strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both Compliance colleagues and the Business
  • Strong influencing and stakeholder management skills
  • Excellent command of written and verbal English skills
