Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead product development in all functional areas, including Manufacturing, Technology, Logistics, Sales & Marketing, and Finance
  • Be the lead on the New Product Development team on all new product development with the marketing team, running weekly and monthly new product development meetings with the CEO and marketing and sales teams
  • Develop project timelines to ensure transition of formulas to production meet deadlines
  • Follow and streamline the internal product development process ensuring on time and on strategy delivery, influencing speed to market where possible
  • Responsible for leveraging customer insights, industry trends and market research to identify opportunities
  • Execute the development of exciting, high impact products that guarantee high brand recognition, and high sustained customer loyalty
  • Ensure all products meet brand standards
  • Work with all our factory partners on all new product launches from concept to launch that involve sample requests, costing, formula updates, etc..
  • Develop knowledge in product costing, P&Ls and financial analysis to be able to build business case for new products and associated capital
  • Track project details, maintain accuracy of databases related to new products and provide reports as needed
  • Develop and maintain project timelines of all new product launches
  • Organize and maintain product/samples: i.e. create-a-process, that outlines storage location, labeling/packaging, component and formula references.
  • Review all packaging and artwork from a product development perspective
  • Responsible for the continuous improvement of existing products as required
  • Support vendor sourcing and provide recommendations

Job Requirements:

  • Post-secondary degree in business, marketing, or other related field along with knowledge of the beauty and retail industry
  • Biochemistry and/or cosmetic formulation education a definite asset
  • Understanding and working with ingredient specifications an asset
  • Previous product development/project management experience preferably in the beauty industry
  • Proficient computer skills (MS Office, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong analytical and negotiating skills
  • Resourceful and solution oriented
  • Ability to travel
