Job Description

Junior Accountants assist senior accounting staff with a variety of tasks, such as developing and revising debt/interest and preferred return schedules in compliance with partnership and loan agreements. Cash receipts, journal entries, accounts payable vouchers and/or wires, and bank reconciliations shall be prepared by the Junior Accountant. This job is supporting in nature and plays a significant part in the Corporate Accounting team’s daily administration and operations.

Requirements:

  • Creates and updates depreciation schedules and journal entries in accordance with company policies (e.g. consistent application of accounts and depreciable lives).
  • Accounting issues should be approached from a problem-solving perspective rather than a problem-focused one.
  • By keeping financial information secret, it fosters trust and safeguards operations.
  • Encourage and facilitate the creation and maintenance of positive working relationships with customers.
  • Making and keeping track of intercompany schedules is essential for accurate interest calculations, as well as for ensuring that partnership agreements and management directions are fulfilled. Makes certain the correct information is located and recorded (e.g. terms and accounts).
  • This function is responsible for ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local financial legal obligations by studying current and prospective laws, ensuring adherence to rules, and advising management on key decisions.
  • Providing support for the development of tax packages for corporations and investment entities, including debt sections, for submission to the tax department.
  • Analyze contracts to verify revenue reporting conforms to both contract and technical revenue recognition guidance.
  • For this role, it would be advantageous but not necessary to be fluent in another language (Spanish or French preferred)
  • Assists with daily cash posting, including documenting electronic wires and book transfers via daily cash receipts, as well as collecting the necessary backup (e.g. distribution calculation, supporting emails).

Skills:

 

  • Has strong analytical abilities, is a natural mathematician, and has a keen eye for detail. Has worked with Great Plains ERP systems or other accounting software.
  • Punctual, skilled at meeting deadlines, and a master of time management
  • Before applying, you must have one year of experience in bookkeeping or a related financial position.
  • Accounting or finance bachelor’s or associate’s degree is necessary (equivalent experience considered)
  • Working well under pressure, managing several competing goals, and meeting deadlines are all essential in a fast-paced environment.
