Job Description

As a Senior Account Manager, your role is to manage and drive client accounts effectively. You should be a skilled and confident professional with a deep understanding of media and communication strategies, and adept at using media tools to achieve comprehensive coverage across all PR areas.

You will be responsible for implementing communication strategies and activities for client accounts, ensuring that programs and objectives are met and that accounts are efficiently organized.

Responsibilities

Team Management:

  • Collaborate closely with Directors on daily operational processes.
  • Supervise and support PR Account Managers, Senior PR Account Executives, Account Executives, and Interns.
  • Assist in recruiting and hiring new employees.
  • Develop and implement account management strategies.
  • Support team performance improvements and alignment with company business goals.
  • Contribute to generating new sales leads for the company.

Corporate Responsibilities:

  • Participate in agency meetings, initiatives, and campaign development sessions.
  • Attend and engage in PR industry events and awards to benefit the company and clients.
  • Act as a problem solver and develop systems to drive team progress.

Client Servicing:

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with colleagues and clients.
  • Collaborate with the PR Director to create integrated communication strategies for client portfolios.
  • Oversee the implementation of communication plans, including research, idea generation, writing press releases, creating copy for publications, interviewing case studies, managing social media accounts, writing award submissions, and event management.
  • Prepare regular status reports and contact updates for clients.
  • Plan and manage various client events, such as photo calls, press conferences, community events, and training days.

Media Skills:

  • Possess in-depth knowledge of national, regional, broadcast, and online media landscapes.
  • Maintain established relationships with relevant journalists, influencers, and bloggers.
  • Drive media relations programs according to the agreed-upon activity plans.
  • Manage the press release distribution process from start to finish.
  • Proactively research and identify media opportunities for clients.
  • Develop compelling news angles and secure placements across print, broadcast, and online media.
  • Seek and capitalize on publicity opportunities to maximize coverage for clients.
  • Handle incoming media inquiries efficiently and professionally.
  • Oversee media promotional activities, such as competitions.

Meetings:

  • Lead meetings, ensuring thorough preparation, accurate note-taking, and prompt distribution of contact reports.
  • Present and discuss information in client meetings and new business presentations as directed.

General:

  • Play a central role in the team, taking full responsibility for client issues and problem resolution.
  • Proofread all written materials before submission to clients.
  • Brief designers, photographers, printers, and other suppliers with precision, manage quality control, deadlines, and resolve any issues.
  • Understand and manage financial controls, mark-up rules, and budgeting procedures for all accounts.

New Business Development and Marketing:

  • Contribute to new business development efforts.
  • Collaborate with Directors to prepare proposals and pitches.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities to grow business with existing clients.
