Responsibilities

  • Lead and is accountable for all aspects related to the P&L which includes developing, planning, and execution of margin performance and financial budgets.
  • Partner with the transportation management team in the strategic and tactical planning, execution, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Develop knowledge and understanding of client requirements by identifying key players, building relationships, identifying risks and business opportunities.
  • Lead the pricing solutions and carrier negotiations for national transportation agreements for parcel, less than truckload, and a full truck load agreements. Oversee the onboarding activities for new NLS clients.
  • Oversee significant third-party supplier carriers to ensure on-time performance of the outsourced transportation network.
  • Responsible for the leadership and operational direction for all contracted freight pools across Western and Eastern Canada along with cross border hubs in North America.
  • Responsible for the contracted cross-dock spaces and location standards to meet NLS liability and loss prevention requirements.
  • Act as the escalation point of contact for all operational concerns for the clients, reinforcing operational standards and plans to support their business requirements.
  • Participate in the strategy development and execution of the organization’s immediate and long-term objectives.
  • Act as a coach and mentor to develop the existing leaders, identify high potentials for upcoming and leadership roles and provide opportunity for learning and growth.
  • Responsible to ensure compliance of organization’s safety standards, results, and programs.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years’ of supply chain management experience in a transportation leadership role
  • 5+ years’ experience managing full P&L statements.
  • A degree in Logistics, Industrial Engineering, or a related operations discipline. CITT or P. Log preferred.
  • Process focused with a proven track record of streamlining and stabilization of complex workflows.
  • Deep knowledge of both Canadian and US transportation networks inclusive of ports, intermodal, and all over the road carrier services.
  • Direct experience with dray, transload, intermodal, truckload, LTL, courier, and final mile.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, time management, delegation, and overall leadership skills.
  • A strong leader who can easily build good working relationships and trust quickly.
  • Empowers leaders to make change and be creative in problem-solving.
  • Ability to interact effectively at multiple levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced and high-intensity environment.
  • Strong financial and analytical skills, along with the ability to develop and maintain a budget.
  • Strong knowledge of Transportation Management Systems.
  • Direct experience with the Bluejay TMS would be considered a strong asset.
