The Role

  • Good exposure to disputes and/or enforcement in banking/finance, added benefit if experience covers contentious regulatory matters relating to virtual asset firms, services and products
  • Strong knowledge/understanding of disputes/enforcement landscape in Dubai and the UAE
  • Qualified lawyer with at least 8 years post qualification experience
  • Experience in coordinating cross-agency enforcement initiatives highly beneficial
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritise
  • High initiative and energy and the ability to take ownership of projects
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Working with Licensing and Supervision teams on thematic and ongoing review of Virtual Asset Service Providers; reviewing potential breaches of Virtual Asset Activity Rulebooks and Marketing Guidelines
  • Drafting and maintaining internal investigation packs and enforcement recommendations * Reviewing and Developing enforcement framework
  • Analysing evolving trends in Virtual Asset activity and identifying potential breaches against current regulatory framework and emerging risks arising therefrom, as well as tracking global enforcement actions to assess impact locally
  • Tracking ongoing investigations and outcomes, recommending enforcement actions, building database repository of enforcement related measures taken
  • Conduct training on regulatory standards, identification of breaches and determining suitable enforcement outcomes, building consistency across the regulator in analysis and assessment of potential breaches
  • Structuring, drafting, negotiating, and advising on relevant legal notices/correspondence
  • Dealing with grievances/appeals arising from enforcement action taken

The Candidate

  • Bachelor’s degree in law or above
  • Comprehensive Background in the legal, banking field
  • Has a solid background in the Financial Institutions
  • Over 8 years of relevant experience in the Banking Sector and currently performing a senior role.
  • Bilingual – Fluency in Arabic and English
